2018 Guide to the ACA Marketplace Certification

Do we need to certify for 2018 ACA? Do you wish to sell The Affordable Care Act in 2018? Then you must be certified to sell and receive commissions. There will be several different policy options for clients to choose from, both on and off exchange. You must be certified with ACA to offer on exchange plans.

Below you will find the directions and a walk through on what will be needed for you to complete the 2018 Marketplace certification.

AGENTS NEW TO ACA:

Agents and brokers who will be participating in the FFM for the individual market for the first time must complete the registration process below:

Visit the CMS Enterprise Portal to complete the following:

  • Creation of an FFM user account
  • Request the FFM Agent/Broker Role
  • Complete Identity Proofing
  • Create your agent/broker profile on the MLMS Portal- CMS Enterprise Portal
  • Complete all training modules
  • Complete and agree to the Marketplace Agreements
  • Optional ( Highly Encouraged) SHOP training

 

AGENTS RETURNING TO ACA:

Agents and brokers who will be returning to the FFM for the individual market will complete the registration process below:

Any agent or broker who wishes to facilitate FFM enrollments for the 2018 plan year must complete 2018 Agent Broker Training.

You will have 2 options for training. Below are a few tips to ensure a successful registration experience for the 2018!

Visit the CMS Enterprise Portal to complete the following:

  • Update your profile information
  • Refresher Training Course- Only allowed if you successfully registered last year, use the same MLN user ID (User id on the CMS Enterprise Portal where you complete the identity proofing.)
  • The Full Training Course
  • Complete all training modules
  • Complete and agree to the Marketplace Agreements
  • Optional (Highly Encouraged) SHOP training

Make sure your NPN is correct in your CMS Enterprise portal profile before you complete the training this year.

Remember that there is an array of supporting materials for you on the CMS webpage under the section titled “Registration for the Federally-facilitated Marketplace (FFM) for the individual market and the Federally-facilitated Small Business Health Options Program (FF-SHOP).”
